In London in 1688, Lloyds of London organized the first protection for sailor's cargo against pirates, shipwreck, etc. While their main focus is still on maritime coverage for oil tankers and shipping cargo, it has expanded to auto, home, life, etc.
Where was the first auto policy sold in America?
The first auto policy was sold in Dayton, OH in 1897.
How much in claims was paid in Hurricane Katrina?
Over $50,000,000,000 was paid from Katrina. Due to the massive amount of homes, cars, businesses and offshore damage, Katrina was the most financially devastating and deadly hurricane in US history. Over 1,400 people died.
